Dion von Moltke has built his career in Grand-Am built on a solid foundation of international Karting and Formula Car racing. Even though he races under the South African flag he was born in Texas from South African parents, and having lived in Sydney and Los Angeles before moving to his current home in Miami, Dion started Kart racing at 13 in Southern Florida, with DeJorge Racing. Dion won several championships at the local and state level before moving up to the National and International level, and participated in World championship Karting events in Italy. Since then he has steadily progressed through several professional racing series, becoming a very successful and respected professional race car driver that has multiple wins in Skip Barber, Grand-Am, and American Le Mans series.
2008: Dion participated the entire season in an APR Motorsport VW GTi in Koni Challenge ST, and also drove a Mustang in Grand-Am’s Koni GS, and a Mazda RX-8 in Rolex GT.
2009: Dion competed in the Daytona Rolex 24 Hour race in a Mazda RX-8. He also won three of the six races he entered in the Koni Challenge in the Golf GTi – Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, and Miller. He stepped into the highest level of Grand-Am racing, testing the Doran Racing Number 77 Dallara Daytona Prototype at Mid-Ohio with spectacular results, and then racing in the DP category at Daytona and Homestead. Dion also drove an ALMS LMP1 at Petite Le Mans, and a Super Modified Jaguar XKR V8 at Kyalami, South Africa.
2010: Dion competed the entire season in the Grand-Am Daytona Prototype class. He started the season at the Daytona 24 Hour with the Starworks team, and then moved for the remainder of the season to Doran Racing, where he drove the Number 77 McDonalds/South African Airways/PRNewswire Dallara Ford. He finished 10 of the 12 races in the top 10, was the top Rookie in the Daytona Prototype Series, and was fastest Trueman Aiken driver in 8 of the 9 sessions he participated in.
2011: Dion competed in the Daytona 24 Hour race with Belgium-based Muehlner Motorsports, finishing the race as the pro driver in 9th place. Completed a full season with TRG in ALMS GTC as the pro driver in the number 68 Porsche GT. Finished the 12 Hours of Sebring in 4th place, and the Long Beach Grand Prix in 5th place driving this car. Had first ALMS victory at Lime Rock, coming from 1 lap down and in 6th place. Followed this with a 2nd place finish at Mosport, losing the lead on the final lap when starting to run out of fuel. Finished 5th in the ALMS GTC Championship, out of the 28 drivers that officially competed. TRG came 2nd in the GTC Team Championship.

Dr. Jim Norman

Dr. Jim Norman is an avid sportsman who built and then raced his own all-aluminum, high-speed, experimental airplane. Nearly 10 years ago, “Dr. J” as he is known around the paddock, gave up airplane racing and turned to race cars where he quickly became a multi-time Skip Barber Champion. He then graduated to Porsche GT3-Cup cars competing in the IMSA GT3 Challenge by Yokahama, and the IMSA Mission Foods GT3 Challenge where he was that series’ first champion in 2011. During his run in Porsches, Dr Jim also scored a fourth at the 12 Hours of Sebring as well as at Petit Le Mans in GT-C. Dr. J is passionate about all types of racing and is known for his generous support of young race car drivers who are early in their careers as they work their way up the racing ladder. Professionally, Norman is a surgeon and one of the world’s foremost authorities on calcium metabolism and parathyroid tumors.
